The Old Place – daytrekking

The Old Place is a rustic restaurant tucked in the Santa Monica Mountains. Many locals and those doing daytrips through the mountains know about this stop.

Before retiring in 2017 my office use to be in Calabasas and that’s how I found out about it. It’s about 5 miles south of the 101, off Mulholland Drive and in between Kanan & Las Virgines Canyon (Malibu Canyon). The menu is thin but very tasty. It’s not fast-food and it’s not for the crowd looking for the $5 special.

Today I decided to take a trip down memory lane. If you’re a bacon-lover I almost forgot what hand-carved bacon cooked over an open pit looked and tasted like!!! Let alone each slice cut at least 4 inches thick – Wow.

For those who love bacon, most have probably forgotten what real hand-carved bacon looks like. The Old Place takes it up several notches.
