The official opening of the MLK memorial was to take place Saturday, August 27, 2011. Hurricane Irene had other plans as DC and lots of the east were shut down. Thousands like me had already made plans to attend the historic event. I decided to roll the dice and keep my plans. The downpour from Irene came but as the pictures document it was a tremendous event. Best of all my good fortune was meeting the sculptor who had traveled from China.
