On my way to a photo shoot I swung by Leimert Park to check out the early Saturday morning vibe. Many vendors were setting up but there are two in particular which are highlighted in the photos below.
SAWAD offers quality T-Shirts and other products based on the theme of consciousness. Owner Joseph Allen a.k.a. SAWAD enthusiastically spoke about his Mississippi delta roots and how being raised on the “East-Side” helped shape his perspective. His products are unique and being a vendor allows him to do grass-roots marketing while building his clientele.
Caribbean Soul Kitchen LA features quality food with a Panamanian/Jamaican flare. We sampled the Yucca Balls and Beef Patties – very tasty. Owner Chef RJ spoke about his desire to bring the culture of his food to the community so he found Leimert Park as the perfect testing ground to build his following.
These two vendors share a theme consistent with many start-ups, “the journey of a thousand miles – starts with the first step!!” They can be found in the Leimert Park village on the weekends.
