Young Jabriel Weir (left) is living history as the only African-American groundskeeper for an MLB stadium. Pictured next to him is one of his trusted assistants and do an amazing job to keep the venue impeccable.
This is a short aerial footage of the site.
These are a few images of the stadium
In 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) had already planned in exhibition to honor Willie Mays, who played many games at Rickwood. With his passing the history of the venue and its tradition became very important. The San Francisco Giants hosted the St. Louis Cardinals to the delight of thousands who were lucky enough to be in attendance. Currently the venue host various events, including being the home field of Miles College (an HBCU also located in Birmingham).
