LAX
Navarette’s
Located in LAX, not a bad option for wanting a fresh salad and glass of wine.

ATLANTA, GA
Rosie’s
Easy to find, great parking. They offer a full menu as I opted for shrimp & grits. Ummm, tasty but grits were a bit runny for my taste. Nice environment.

Villa Rica – Sonics (picture not available) – Being from the Westcoast I’ve only seen Sonic advertised. More than likely one and done because their menu has all of the elements that (for me) would lead to health issues. The double-burger was tasty but the velvetta type cheese spelled double-trouble. I guess their market is teens or those in their 20’s and 30’s????
ALABAMA
AUBURN, AL
El Dorado Mexican Restaurant
A nice find. Plenty of free parking. Great service with affordable prices. Authentic Mexican prepared dishes.

MONTGOMERY, AL
Dave’s
Don’t let the exterior fool you. I thought the place was closed but upon entering they are ready to earn your business. I opted for the liver and onions – well prepared and very tasty. They offer specific dishes per day of the week so on any given day you can select from 2 or 3 entrees. Great price, good service. Place needs some refurbishment but I was there for the food not the looks.

Eddie’s at Whitewater
Eddie’s is one of the hypist spots at the Whitewater complex. Menu is very diverse and service is excellent. I’m not a bourbon person but the bartender whipped up a Old Fashion using Uncle Nearest.

Pannie-George at the Legacy Museum
Legit soul-food type menu to complement your visit to the Legacy museum. Buffett style offerings and prices are reasonable. Plenty of seating and parking.

J.W. Bevette’s
Located in a strip-mall not far from the freeway. Fresh soul-food type offering. Service is very good and prices are affordable.

BIRMINGHAM, AL
Alicia’s Coffee House (Part of historic AG Gaston site)
Recently opened adjacent the historic AG Gaston site. Lots of seating. Prices are average if not a tad higher but worth your support.

Selma, AL
Reflections Coffee House
Just around the corner from the Edmund Pettis bridge this venue has been upgraded. Nice environment.

St. James Hotel
The dining area inside the St. James Hotel offers various food options. $20 for the salad as seen below is a bit steep. Service could have been better as staff appeared to be unorganized.

MISSISSIPPI
Martin’s
A great spot in downtown Jackson. Lots of great southern offerings. Service was good and refills are provided.

LOUISIANA
Vidalia, LA
BB Fish & Bar-B-Que
A great spot in Vidalia. Plenty of parking. Service was good and food was very tasty, while affordable.

Baton Rogue, LA
PoBoy Express
Once I stepped inside, venue had unique smell. Food was promptly prepared and was very tasty. Plenty of parking and inside seating.

New Orleans, LA
Willie Mae’s
Willie Mae’s has moved from their Treme location. The new venue is very roomy and well appointed. Service was good. The Gumbo needs a little work as it as the roux was thinned and the bowl was heavily salted.

NOLA PoBoy’s
Located on Bourbon Street, a nice find. PoBoy was nicely dressed and Gumbo had a nice consistency as well as being tasty.

Willie’s Chicken
So Willie’s specializes in daiquirie’s. I opted for the Rum blend and although tasty, the sweetness was a bit overbearing.

Leah’s (Dookey Chase at the Airport)
Leah’s is at the airport. Nicely appointed, however the service we received was slow. The dishes are excellent in their preparation. I had the Fish (catfish) and grits and it was very tasty and the grits had a good consistency.

LODGING
Tuskegee, AL
This is Tanisha & Corey’s place in Tuskegee, AL. We spent two nights.
Selma, AL
Due to the 60th Anniversary of the Bridge Crossing Jubilee, we had been trying to get lodging in Selma for the past year. Unfortunately, with time running out and the main goal of being in Selma on March 9th we found BayMont by Wyndam. We got snakebit as the price was sky high or not justified based on property condition and amenities. but the property was low budget, at best. It was more motel-like accommodations.

Vidalia, LA
We stayed at Town Place by Marriott, nestled alongside the Mississippi River on the Louisiana side. The accommodations met our expectations. Rooms were nicely appointed and live-in type amenities allowed us to entertain guests.

New Orleans, LA
We stayed at the Moxy, adjacent the French Quarter. The Moxy offers European style accommodations meaning the rooms and accommodations are very portable.
